Kathleen (Kate) B. Hicks is an associate in the firm's coverage and commercial litigation section. She received her B.A. in English and Political Science from Colgate University, and her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Hicks served as the Executive Notes Editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law. She also competed for the school's moot court team, finishing as Best Oralist and Team Semifinalist at the Georgia Intrastate Moot Court Competition, as well as Regional Champion, National Quarter-finalist, and National Best Brief at the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition. As part of Georgia Law's appellate litigation clinic, Ms. Hicks appeared before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in a whistle-blower retaliation case. Ms. Hicks was a summer associate with Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, and prior to attending law school, spent two years working as a political journalist in Washington, D.C.
