Maren R. Cave joined Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, in 2000 and has been a partner since 2008. Ms. Cave is a civil litigator and represents and defends businesses and individuals sued across Georgia. Ms. Cave routinely handles and defends premises liability suits, dram shop actions, product liability actions, construction defect suits and general tort litigation in both state and federal court throughout Georgia. She also regularly represents insurance companies on coverage disputes and bad faith suits. Ms. Cave has significant experience in class action and mass tort litigation in state and federal court. She has handled over a dozen jury trials in both state and federal court, and has handled a number of cases at the appellate level. Ms. Cave received a B.A., cum laude, in History and Political Science from St. Olaf College in Minnesota in 1997. She spent time studying abroad in Athens, Greece, and in Havana, Cuba while in college. Ms. Cave received her J.D. from Mercer University in 2000. While in law school, she was a member of the Mercer Law Review and of the Moot Court Board. She was a semi-finalist in the 1999 Georgia Intrastate Competition, and a student coach of the 2000 Georgia Intrastate Competition.
Ms. Cave is admitted to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, as well as the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia. She is a member of the Order of Barristers, State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, The CLM Alliance, Atlanta Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta and the Defense Research Institute (DRI). In 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, Ms. Cave was named a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine. She is also co-author of "Insurance" of the Mercer Law Review.
