Lisa Wade Speaking at ABA TIPS Section Conference
Swift Currie partner Lisa Wade will speak as a panelist at the ABA TIPS Section Conference this year. The conference will take place April 27-30 in Baltimore, MD.
Wade will participate in a panel discussion titled "Handling Employment Law Issues and Workers' Compensation Injuries for Remote Employees: What Attorneys, Employers and Insurers Need to Know."
This program will encompass employment practices issues, workplace safety, supervision/accommodations, handling work injury claims by remote employees, analysis of scope of employment situations concerning primarily at-home versus casually working at-home. Panelists will also cover the risks and exposures of remote employees during the ongoing pandemic. A discussion of various state Statutes and the coverage of remote workers, common work-from-home injuries, slips/trips/falls at home, medical treatment issues, claims handling of at-home injuries, “coming and going” rule, secondary job site issues and personal comfort doctrine will also be covered. Guidance for handling of injuries sustained by remote employees as the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continue will also be addressed.
