WEBINAR: When Good Employees Behave Badly - Fights, Horseplay and Willful Misconduct Defenses in Georgia
Attorneys Jeff Stinson and Dustin Thompson will host the webinar, "When Good Employees Behave Badly: Fights, Horseplay and Willful Misconduct Defenses in Georgia," on Nov. 10, 2021, from 1-2 p.m. Eastern.
O.C.G.A. § 34-9-1(4) and 34-9-17 provide grounds for denying an employee compensation where an injury or death is due to the willful act of a third person for personal reasons, an employee’s willful misconduct, an employee engaging in horseplay or an employee who deviates from their job duties.
Our attorneys will discuss the legal standard and burden of proof for establishing a defense to workers’ comp benefits in each of these scenarios and how to prove such a defense at a hearing, as well as provide case law examples and hypotheticals.
The webinar will offer one general hour of continuing education credit (pending approval) for attendees registered with the Georgia Department of Insurance.
Instructions to join webinar will be emailed to registrants closer to the date of the program.
