Trey Dowdey Appointed to Alabama State Bar Military Law Committee

Trey Dowdey HeadshotBirmingham-based partner Trey Dowdey was once again appointed to serve on the Alabama State Bar Military Law Committee through 2020. Dowdey has been an active member of the committee for more than 11 years and previously served as vice-chairman.

The purpose of the Military Law Committee is to maintain a meaningful relationship between the organized bar and active duty judge advocate legal offices in Alabama. The committee also serves as the vehicle for improving the professional relationship between the lawyers inside the gate at military installations and those outside the gate, so that each group can better serve its clients and the military and civilian communities as a whole.  

With over 18,000 members, the committees and task forces of the bar address its ever-evolving needs and provide solutions to improve the lives of its members and communities. Together, the committees and task forces will work toward accomplishing goals for the far and the citizens of Alabama while upholding their motto, "Lawyers Render Service."

Dowdey has spent more than 20 years in service of his country. He is the commander of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 10th Legal Operations Detachment and a colonel in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. His practice at Swift Currie is primarily focused on workers’ compensation matters and the defense of employers against retaliatory discharge and co-employee liability claims.
