Swift Currie Adds 5 More Attorneys to Continue Growth in Atlanta
Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, announces five new attorneys joined the firm’s Atlanta office in September. The additions include senior attorney Janie E. Hagood and attorneys Briana A. Burrows, Anelise R. Codrington, Amy D. Katz and Matthew A. Liverman. Their arrival follows the addition of 14 attorneys so far this year and 45 new hires in 2018, bringing the firm’s headcount to more than 150 attorneys.

Janie Hagood joins Swift Currie’s litigation practice defending trucking and transportation companies, drivers and insurance companies in matters related to motor carrier liability and commercial insurance coverage. Additionally, Hagood is involved in resolving automobile litigation, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, commercial litigation, construction law and professional liability claims. She has successfully represented clients subject to negligence claims alleging eight-figures’ worth of damages and is experienced in managing cases throughout the course of complex litigation proceedings, including discovery, motions, mediation and trial. Hagood is dual-state licensed with admission in Georgia and Florida. She graduated with her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from the Stetson University College of Law.
Briana Burrows joins Swift Currie’s workers’ compensation practice as an associate counseling businesses and insurers through workers’ compensation claims and employment law-related disputes. During law school, she interned in house at several corporations and represented national and international clients in the restaurant, hotel, retail and insurance industries. She brings experience taking depositions, conducting mediations, drafting motions and compiling thorough legal research and analysis to identify effective resolutions for her clients. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
Anelise Codrington joins Swift Currie’s litigation practice representing insurance companies and government entities in matters related to automobile litigation, premises liability, insurance coverage and governmental liability. She is experienced in handling various aspects of litigation, including drafting orders, resolving pre-trial and post-trial motions, preparing briefs and more. She previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge Shalonda Jones-Parker and an extern to the Honorable Judge Verda M. Colvin. Codrington received her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University and her law degree from the Mercer University School of Law.
Amy Katz joins Swift Currie’s coverage and commercial litigation practice as an associate counseling insurance carriers and businesses in commercial litigation, construction law and insurance coverage disputes. She has defended architects, engineers and other design professionals in construction litigation, professional malpractice, general liability and insurance coverage claims and possesses a background as a former e-discovery attorney and legal researcher and writer. She earned her undergraduate degree from Salem College and her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Matthew Liverman brings more than a decade’s worth of trial experience to Swift Currie’s workers’ compensation practice. With a background in handling all aspects of workers’ compensation claims and litigation, including initial investigation, depositions, written discovery, trial, appeals, and drafting briefs and motions, he focuses on representing insurers and businesses in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. He previously served as an assistant attorney general with the Georgia Department of Law, assistant public defender for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit and staff counsel for a national insurer. Liverman has been a steering committee member of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation Annual Educational Conference since 2013 and is a frequent speaker at the conference. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his law degree from the Regent University School of Law.
